Fortress Canyon - Leura - Blue Mountains - 4K

Fortress Canyon in an easy and popular canyon located in the upper Blue Mountains of NSW.

There are a number of fun sections to this canyon, lots of pretty creek walking, easy 2-3mtr jumps, with plenty of stunning, narrow canyon sections, with cold swims to get to the final 6mtr jump, or, easy abseil.

This jump should always be checked first as the depth of the water is usually only 2mtrs deep and there are rocks, so correct spot to aim for is important.

The end of the canyon overlooks the Grose Valley at the top of Fortress Falls, an iconic spot for Instagrammers because of the small deep pools right on the edge of the falls.

Beautiful video. Nice to see you treating the canyon respectfully and safely. Jumping the abseil is just nuts and I’m amazed more people don’t go over the edge at the little pools. Great day 👍🏻

Thats the way to do it get away from the walking tracks and enjoy what others miss. I did a similar down a small stream with my brother in Vanuatu in 1995 and really enjoyed it. One day I might get to do your same walk. Take Care. Ian

Most people do not know what's to the northern side of the Highway, with the exception of Govett's Leap and Evan's Lookout. I'm now too old to venture off a made path, but glad to see someone enjoying this.

so to avoid the abseil at the falls, one could do a clockwise route at the main fork shown in alltrails and end up at the bottom of the waterfall where you abseiled down? i am fine with small jumps and canyon swimming, but not abseil. thanks
