(Filmed today earlier this afternoon). So this story is based on how I was encountered by an extremely rude security guard earlier this afternoon for filming a ThyssenKrupp AGILE. Let this video serve as a reminder to why security can be harsh in high rise office buildings. Now here’s the story. So basically I was filming the elevators at a 27 storey office tower and they had really amazing ThyssenKrupp AGILEs that modded something before. As soon as I proceeded back down the elevators, I was unexpectedly encountered by an extremely rude security guard. I was told that he saw me on the security cameras and took this situation too far. He said he was going to write me a report and not even he did that, he also forced me to delete a video of a TKE Agile Destination Dispatch. It took place in Downtown Ottawa while I was on my trip for 2 nights. I must say that security was a pain. I don’t like this place with every bone and organ in my body. I should say that most security guards aren’t understanding elevator photography. Also, this place does not like photographers. I would still say that he should of given me a warning instead of immediately writing me a report in which was taken too far. This experience scared me really bad. High rise office buildings are very strict and involve turnstiles. I’ve seen some on my trip in Ottawa. The worse I would ever expect for a security encounter like that would be if he threatened to throw me in jail. If I ever had the experience, I would be so scared. I understand that security in a building is to protect a person or a property for harm or damage. Compared to my experience I had last year in Downtown Toronto ON, I would say it’s about the average. Tomorrow, I will be heading back to Toronto and hopefully still have videos to upload for Ottawa. Anyways, that is it.

I know 111 George in Brisbane has security, this is because it’s a government building; despite the lifts being originally 1993 Kone TMS (they were horribly ruined by Otis in 2009). I took a look but didn’t film them, as I would abide to government rules of no photography… but they do have US95 Dewhurst… and European Gen2 indicators. Another case was 500 Bourke in Melbourne, where the lifts are Boral; modded into Otis Compass 360. Since the floors are mostly locked out, I tried to film, but concierge brought on security; saying the lifts are to be used if going up to a meeting in the building... however the lifts were being modded at the time.

Ottawa sucks in general... I believe the building that you are talking about is a privately owned building (One60 Elgin) owned by MACH.

Security does have the right to tell or ask you to leave as most office buildings are private property but we elevator enthusiasts risk going in there anyway. They don’t have the right to force you to delete the video. I don’t have much respect for them because most of them are tyrants that know nothing about the law and they’re not respectful. They violate your rights in some ways. I haven’t been stopped for filming elevators before but I have been asked unrelated questions by security and my excuses are “where’s the subway station or the exit” then I get the hell out. Most of the time before entering from the outside, I quickly make sure there’s no security guards there and I make a quick round trip then I’m out. Maybe this building you were in is owned by the government? For me if it is government-owned, I don’t risk a chance because of high security and it is Ottawa so 🤷🏾‍♂️

Also Ottawa sucks in general. I’m less fond of that city since my last visit two years ago, it’s just gone downhill and it’s a city I wouldn’t visit again in a few years. It lacks general vibes and the attractions there are meh. Not like Toronto.
