In business and IT, an incident -- or emergency -- can be anything from cyber threats, to data breaches, to natural disasters. Incident response is handled by an incident response team, working strategically from an incident response plan. Incident response teams are typically comprised on smaller groups, including a computer emergency response team (CERT) and a computer security incident response team (CSIRT), operating from a security operations center (SOC). Incident response teams are trained to react to both public and corporate -- or organizational -- incidents.
