DJ vs Ray Borg, Rodtang, Cejudo, and Moraes cemented him as a goat in my eyes as someone who could handle defeat and victory with accountability and grace. I feel bad for all his online opponents in games now that he will have more time.

One of the greatest, and unfortunately was underappreciated throughout his UFC career.. And even still is, being often overlooked when talking about the greatest MMA fighters.

As a guy who started MMA in his early 30s and was a couch slob for much of his adult life, to me DJ is a huge inspiration and while I will never be even a low-level pro, guys like DJ do give me motivation to stay active and keep myself healthy and learn new things every now and then. Much of that is also thanks to his personality and him just being a stand-up guy. While I can appreciate their careers and pulling themselves up from their circumstances, I don't and never will look up at guys like Masvidal, while DJ I honestly do look up.

He is the living proof that you can be a great fighter, with a very entertaining style, and still be considered boring only based on what you do outside the cage.
