Saving a piece of interesting furniture is a fantastic skill to have, but saving history is immeasurable. You have saved an integral part of Estonias history with this piece and it will now remain to tell its story to younger generations. I am so sorry that your country suffered at the hands of invaders. You were not alone but it altered lives in desperate ways. The whole world suffered at that time, all because of a few men’s greed for power. I was really glad to hear Mr Soone returned to his roots at last, but I’m sure with lasting effects. I hope that this never happens again to your country and people, and I pray every day that peace in Europe will happen very soon. Your skills are amazing and you should be very proud that you have saved a piece of your country’s heritage. God bless, from the UK xx

Ahti, that's magnificent. Restoring antiques always helps preserve the past, but you just restored history. A beautiful piece of furniture with such a sad past. I'm glad Mr. Soone was able to come home. Thank you for the entertainment and fun of watching you give new life to old items, but I also thank you for the education.❤

Gorgeous. And being the nut I am, that base having hollow sections could come in handy with a few small modifications. What a work of art and usefulness those desks are. We need to bring back real cabinetry.

I like learning about history through your fourniture restoration video. Objects tell their own story and this one has witness a lot. I don't know if you did this on purpose, but carrying the cross on your shoulder was a beautiful wink to all the victims of communism. Thank you :)

You do an amazing job on all of your restorations! Your vlog is my personal favorite for exploring vintage furniture restoration. The back story, of the vintage pieces, that you share with us during each restoration enhances the beauty and value of each piece. ❣️

Beautiful job saving that amazing desk. Thank you sharing that piece of history, it's not something most people in the US know. The desk is stunning with an understated elegance. Masterful job restoring it.

Fantastic job, as always, Ahti. Love the colour change from that dark and dirty to the the final finish. Whilst were used to seeing you preserve old pieces, it's great to hear the associated story with this one. I'm glad Soone came back alive, unlike so many. Thank you.

Finally! I can teach the master a new trick!
When filing thin stock like that, to mitigate the horrible sound, clamp a heavy pair of locking pliers (commonly called vise-grips) on the edge of the work piece. You may have to re-position them a few times to find the right spot, but when you get it right, it dampens the vibration and cuts that terrible noise down a great deal.

The desk style and design was old but today also has a modern and advanced desk. After the restoration the desk gets a new life.
