I am legitimately so scared. I still use my parents' plan, so I thought I had to register my new phone under my dad's number in order to validate my carrier. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any other opportunity to put down my own number. My iPhone 13 Mini finally arrived and i had the biggest sigh of relief and spark of hope when I saw there was a physical SIM slot...then slight panic because I wasn't sure if there were any specific steps I was supposed to follow in order to put my own SIM in. I think it may have already activated with my dad's number, but fingers crossed that the process is as simple as you said! Thank you for making a video for all of us who either simply didn't know how to do this or haven't purchased a phone in so long that we forgot how. Here's something weird I'd never have guessed possible. If you insert your SIM card from your old iPhone into your new iPhone you can still receive authentication messages (which are required to register the new phone) on the old phone, the one that has no SIM card installed. Not sure which protocol is used for this but seems totally counterintuitive to me. Guessing this happens over bluetooth.

Omg my SIM card was put in wrong by apple must have been a noob I wasn’t paying attention but my SIM card was replaced bc my phone was and I had been getting dropped calls service all the time is that why? Bc my SIM card was upside down wth ????

tried and used to activate the phone with the original sim card from an iphone X to iphone 13 max pro, just put the sim in, no cut, just fit in, and start your iphone, that's it. You dont have to pay extra 30 bucks to activate your iphone 13 with eSIM card (original sim card become useless automatically). Just go through the starting phases and you will be just fine to use it.

So at&t told me to just put my old simcard from my iphone8 plus since its 5g? to my new Iphone 13 pro max. Does that seem right? Sorry Im not tech savy.
