Nice work I have wanted to make a wand as most of the house is Harry Potter fans. I like the way you roughed up the small end and the crystal was a nice touch too. maybe I can make one before this months meeting.

Hey Dean. Another great video! I have actually made 3 of these thus far and given 2 away to my girlfriend and her mom. (They both love Harry Potter) and I must be doing something right because I have a friend who wants me to make one to give as a gift. :) I learned several things from this video. 1. I start at the top of the handle and work and I do get some vibration, The next time I will start at the tip and work up to the handle. 2. I like the idea of making the cuts to give it a gnarly look. 3. I like the idea the burn marks idea. What are you using to make those burn marks? I'm guessing some sort of wire but is it a twisted picture hanger type wire or a solid piece of very thin wire? 4. I like the idea of using fire to color the handle. That seems to give it a unique look. 5. The crystal is a nice touch. So thanks for another great video. Yall have a wonderful day.

Good Job! When you used the towel to apply the finish did any of the charred wood transfer to the towel and then change the appearance of the wood? I made the mistake once of sanding wood right up to and part of a metal bushing and then using the same sandpaper on the wood and the metal dust stained the wood.

I guess I missed it - what is your antique oil ? Is it MinWax Antique Oil Finish perhaps ?
