@vicken782 I just use old gut strings for frets. At least your old strings get some more life! I have also seen nylon wire being used (fishing line?). It's a bit thinner than the gut I would use, and not pretty, but it will last a long time.

Fret gut... I need help, please anyone!
What is the typical fret diameter for Treble viola da Gamba? I see recommendations for lutes, baroque guitars but no info anywhere on Viola da Gamba fret thickness.
First fret: 1.2 mm? 1.0 mm? less? more?
