"This is _not_ what I meant when I said I wanted a ten second car..."

Actually 40 years ago, 9 sec 0 to 60 was really a fast car

Highly inaccurate. Prius c is like 11s and Mitsubishi mirage is like 12s.

Subaru needs to make a Crosstrek XT with the WRX engine so badly

You are funny x) In Europe, 10 second acceleration is considered already as above average power x) I'd say that the average power we have in europe is like 110hp. My Toyota Auris has a 1.2turbo engine making 116hp, and its already above average x)

Ugh. Every car on this list is faster than mine. But on the flip side, mine has been paid off for about four years now, so it’s got that goin’ for it....which is nice.

How did the 128 horsepower Sentra not make this list.

Driver from Germany here. You probably might expect us to drive pretty fast cars here as we can go 60mph on basically every country / b-road and flatout on the Autobahn. However most people dont. 10sek 0-60 is perfectly enough to be one of the fastest out there. Most people need more like 20 sek to reach 60 altough they could do it in 8. So i dont quite get how a car that takes 9 sek is considered slow.. is everyone accelerating that fast in US traffic?

These cars would have been considered peppy in the 90s.

Not saying any of these cars are "fast", but back when I was fixing cars for a living anything that would do 0-60 in under 10 seconds was considered to be reasonable peppy. My customers at the BMW dealership thought their 320s, 318s and 528es were rocket-ships. The original VW Golf GTI had about 100 HP. All of those cars would be on your list if they were still being made. I haven't noticed that highways are any better today or speed limits any higher or driver's any more skilled. So why was 0-60 in 9.5 seconds thought to be exhilarating then but unacceptably dull and boring now? Maybe people just read too many car magazines and allow themselves to be brainwashed?

Chevy Trax and Jeep Renegade are both slow and should be on the list.

9 sec. to 60 mph was plenty quick even for V8s in the 60s 70s & 80s ...lol.

Subaru's anemic power plants are a big reason why I haven't gotten one... Couple that with the CVT... just no.

Funny ín Europe these would be fast cars . Here anything with over 100 HP is a big motor .

I own a 2018 Crosstrek. I agree it's slow as hell! Almost as slow as my first car (2000 Saturn SL). However, it's an awesome car. Never have I owned a car I can pack for a two week road trip and got 30+mpg and AWD.

Great video guys. Funny to think that 9 secs 0-60 is slow these days. My Dodge Colt from years ago was the definition of slow. Life was more relaxed then. What's the rush?

I really like TFL in general. But claiming that 0-60 in 9 seconds is slow is terrible. Our highways are designed for cars that can do 0-60 in 15 or 20 seconds. You are encouraging people to spend more money than they really need to on their new car.

Motorweek would’ve considered 11 seconds “average if not very quick” back the 1980s.

I keep seeing this with the Crosstrek faster than the Forester. We bought the Forester for one reason because when you drive it it’s quicker the the Crosstrek in the real world. The main reason is my wife likes the visibility of the Forester better than the Crosstrek.
