So I withdraw cash and cops pulled me over they'll assume that my cash on my briefcase is drug money? What if I ran a pharmacy?

So they claim they think they have a nexis, however they are checking for residue on bills and checking the origin of the bills. First of all, most money has drug residue mainly due to proximity to other bills with drug traces as well as use for snorting. Estimates have been as high as 90% of bills. So this is bogus. Second of all, what does a bills origin have to do with a anything? Bills legitimately travel from one side of the country to the other daily. Third of all, seizure are time sensitive and L.E. is supposed to have a nexis they can prove PRIOR to seizure. They do this because seizure is a civil action. They tie the money up in the courts and then try to make the owner, if someone claims it, prove where the money came from. In reality LE is supposed to prove why it was seized and the crime used to obtain the money. A favorite trick is seizing everything, even if the amount is only a few thousand. They do this because it costs the owner more to fight the case than the value of the money. Civil forfeiture has turned into legalized government theft of money.

Wait a minute!!! If transporting large amounts of cash is not illegal... then on what basis was the police allowed to search the semi let alone seize the money???

They're going to test the bills for drug residue??? So I somebody uses a $20 bill do do a line of coke and then spends it and it ends up as change in someone else wallet later on, then that constitutes evidence for civil forfeiture???

What connection does the driver previously have in trafficing? Is he searchable? On probation? Parole? It doesnt matter if theyve caught him with a ton of pot before if he was never convicted then he has no connection to drugs and transportation

How could they search his trailer without a warrant? They pulled him over on suspicion that he did something wrong?

Okay 4/5 20$ bills have drug residue on them, there is no way that will hold up in court..

Even if it was $10, 000-$50, 000 they still would have said “it’s an amount large enough that we think it’s connected to drugs”

Give me a fucking break!  Drug residue on the money itself does not mean anything. A good deal of money being circulated in the public has some type of drug residue. If they do actually prove the money is profits from drugs, than the cash should go into the federal budget, not the local coffers.
