I made me some template squares of various sizes, three, six, and 9 in squares. I do have a 4-in square ruler and a couple of rectangle rulers as well, one is smaller than the other, I also just ordered me one of those turntable cutting boards. I'm slowly but surely stocking up on my materials and threads. I just got me a brand new machine for Christmas, I'm burning to use it! My mini singer wasn't quite big enough to handle the jobs I was doing. So my family was kind enough to pitch in together and buy me a brand new Brother. I'm so very happy right now! I started quilting about 7 years ago. The first quote I made, it was done all by hand. It took me about a year to do. I had started it right around the time my husband was diagnosed with cancer. I finished it about a year after that. Unfortunately, my husband didn't get a chance to see the final result. But it was auctioned off for a good cause. The girl who won the auction, absolutely loved the blanket. It was covered in kitties and puppies. Her dad told me it was perfect because she was studying to become a vet. So like I said, a good cause. I have made several quilts since then, but, I had to stop for a little while, because I was losing my eyesight due to cataracts. I've already had one surgery done and I have the second surgery planned for very soon. So I'm patiently waiting for a Time when I can get back to my sewing.
Also, I have seen many of your different videos and you have wonderful ideas. I plan on putting some of them to good use. Thank you.

I received a lovely fleece throw. Great color. Nice and comfy. I'm embarrassed to say I started fondling the thick cardboard lining the gift, exclaiming how it was the perfect size for spray starching my fat quarters. I'll be making rice krispy treats every month for the next year!

The thick cardboard is great for “windows” for fussy cutting. So, you can preview your fabric. Great short

I use the form boards or card stock for design boards also

I love this!! I have a large tag punch that I use to cut cards for gift tags!

I save all my heavy cardboard and use it as a base to wrap my fabric - it’s better then lightweight comic book boards.

And don’t forget bits of ribbon and embellishments off cards, packaging and boxes they all come in useful whether it’s for your sewing or paper crafting . Nothing goes to waste in a crafters home x

You can also copy beautiful cards on to fabric to add to a Christmas quilt. OH! What about copying all cards and making a Christmas quilt for the year? You’re welcomed.

I actually use all of those things for exactly the things you've mentioned. An additional foam chunk got covered in fabric and I use it for felting.

Excellent ideas! I’ve been saving old Christmas cards for 40 yrs. Soon my grandkids will be old enough to use them to make Christmas collage placements that we will laminate. My sisters and I did this when we were middle school age and back then we used clear contact paper to make them water resistant. Lamination will be clearer and more water resistant!

I thought of you today when watching a hexie tutorial. "Karen would recycle Christmas cards."

Also, keeping on the upcycling theme… Not sure if anyone else does this, but when u get your mail, the thicker postcard flyers usually rent a center, Aaron’s, or political post cards…. Make great EPP hexies !! I have so many and thank goodness, they are NOT going to the landfill. It’s a win win! ❤

I'm always looking at 'junk' and ideas pop into my head of how to use it. I didn't know the foam stuff would clean my cutting mat! Thanks!
