The Soviet Union was famous for its cult of personality, and statues of Vladimir Lenin can still be found in Russia today. But did you know there is a LENIN STATUE IN THE USA? It's located in Seattle, and has an interesting story. #russia #usa #seattle #lenin #statue #soviet

they should move the statue to a financial district, that's the funniest placement for a lenin statue

Oh, the irony of being able to purchase a statue of Lenin!

There was one for Trotsky but it mysteriously disappeared.

Nah, I hope the Lenin statue stays in Seattle. It has little cultural context in the US, and frankly there's an irony to a massive Communist statue being in a place as relentlessly capitalist as Seattle. Also, taken strictly on merit of craft, it is a beautiful statue.

Finland had Lenin statue in Kotka too. It was removed in late 2022. Finnish people like Lenin because he granted them their independency.

What will Roman do with it once he owns it? 🤔

There also used to be a very large bust of lenin outside an art galley in Hollywood, CA.

They should place it in Saint Petersburg, FLORIDA😉

Imagine putting a statue of the man who suggested to demolish private properties on a private property

I’m from Seattle and I remember well the hoopla when the statue was first placed in Fremont. Basically, there was a small-but-loud group of offended folks, and a solid majority of people who saw it as amusing kitsch.

Fremont used to be a pretty bohemian neighborhood before the tech-overlords turned it condo, so a random Lenin statue was sort of just one more thing.🙃

We had a Lenin statue in Kotka, Finland, but it was removed in 2022. Still have a Lenin museum in Tampere - in the building where Lenin and Stalin met for the first time...

The irony that Marx & Engels totally didn’t want type of cult of personality or hero worship as technically, everyone was the same & cults were the same “royalty “.

Born, raised & live here. We original Western Washingtonians have a quirky sense of humor & messing w the Lenin statue is one example of it. Let him stay, so we can keep effing with him!😃

A "regime" wanted by the people is not a regime

I live in Seattle and drive by the statue every now and then. It's in the Fremont neighborhood and right next to it is a place called "Pel Menin Dumpling Czar", described on their website as serving "Inventive Russian dumplings & vodka served in a Communist-themed bar with a hipster vibe."
One other detail that you may notice in real life and in photographs of the Lenin statue is that his hands are painted red... It's almost certainly been done to represent all the blood he has on his hands. 🙂
