"You shouldn't connect Windows 7 to internet anymore"
Fine, I browse internet with Windows 98 then.

In the past, websites were simple, you could design them in a freaking Notepad (I did exactly that). Nowadays, any website is a bloated mess, with all those popups, ads, autoplaying videos, cookies and other nonsense.

I'd love to see you cover Windows CE at some point, it's a pretty interesting and lesser known Windows version.

The World is Not Enough features some windows CE product placement, hence the tie in on the website!

Haha, great idea! I still gotta install an early version on Internet Explorer on a VM sometime and play with this.

My internet experience:
I had a w95 486 pc and i did needed drivers for my gpu.
As the pc did not have usb i though i just do it myself and download the driver thru IE that came with the w95.

I did found a website that supported the old ie enough for me to find the driver and it's download button.

Unfortunately, It had a caphta of some sorts "write the number in the picture to download" and the picture was just a big X, as in error

Just wanted to let you know of my Christmas Update to The Old Net. We now have a full HTTP Proxy! This means on old browsers you can add The Old Net as a proxy and type in domains like nintendo.com into the address bar. No longer do you have to go to theoldnet.com and do a domain search from there!

Just set your proxy settings to Host: theoldnet.com Port: 8000 and No-Proxy Domains to web.archive.org

You can find full instructions on the website, thanks!

I use QTWeb and RetroZilla for my Windows 98 browsing. It works fairly fine but I wish there was something that could support javascript and youtube videos on Win98SE.

My brother had a Jornada but from 2001 or 2002, before HP discontinued them to favor the iPAQs they just acquired from the Compaq merger. It was a great device, but even though it was running Windows CE, the Palm had more apps back then. My mom had a Palm m505 and I liked it more, but the Jornada's multimedia capabilities were great for the time.

I’ve played around with The Old Net before on my iMac G3 using Mac OS 10.3.9 and an old fashioned dial-up connection. Worked pretty well.

Love the old style webpages, gives me
A nostalgic feeling, back to the 90s
When life was much simpler, better
Then this shit era we live in now.
