You say: The majority of the UFO sightings were documented in the US. But as a Hungarian, I would like to break the silence. One of my ex-collegues told me one of his experiences, when he was a conscript in the People's Army of Hungary back in the Warsaw Pact era. He were patrolling at one of our military airstrips at a moonless night (maybe in Kecskemét, but I'm not sure), when a very bright, elliptical object has fallen on the sky, hovering over some MiG-21. He became frightened, but when some of the passengers (small slender figures with relatibely big head compared to their small size) of that... THING, he was panicked, and ran back to the guard's booth. He was signed a contract he will not speak about the incident to anyone - but still, he could. The People's Army of Hungary became obsolete, so he could break the silence. He told his story in a hungarian UFO magazine years later.

I remember the Voronezh incident being an item on the national news here in the UK. It was one of those 'And finally..' light hearted sections but they added that TASS, the Russian News agency, had maintained it wasn't a hoax. Whatever it was, I also recall that the story was even more chilliing with the trio taking an indiscreet and unchallenged walk around an urban area. They were accompanied by a giant robot that witnesses reported was occasionally looking into second floor windows. Brrr.

As a Russian I'd like to point out that the Voronezh incident contains such a *vast* amount of well recognisable tropes and stereotypes from the Soviet science fiction media of the 1960s to early 1980s (well prior to the incident) that to me it immediately felt like one giant inside-joke. I'm not contesting anything but take every story of this nature with a pinch of salt.

There are what I would describe as "quite a lot" of UFO incidents in the former USSR during the 80's and 90's. The magazine WIRED did an article on close encounters with Russian naval vessels.

There's a story about strange ancient objects deep in Syberia. They are called syberian cauldrons by the local tribes. It would be a really good story

Wish you’d done a segment on the jellyfish or Petrozavodsk ufo incident in Russia. That was a very bizarre case and again had a lot of witnesses

Can we all just take a moment to stop and appreciate that somebody pulled down an extraterrestrial spacecraft with a Soviet-era shoulder launched explosive. That is *impressive*.

A new upload from this channel is a gift! A new upload about government conspiracies about the disclosure is a whole blessing!

That was great! Would be nice to hear of more such stories from places one rarely hears from. ( not just Russia)

In 1977, after the Petrozavodsk phenomenon, at the suggestion of scientist Anatoly Aleksandrov in the Soviet Union, a state program for research into UFOs called Setka (Net) was created.
The program was officially established in October 1977. Two research commissions were set up to carry it out:
Setka MO on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, which consists mainly of military personnel, and Setka AN, on behalf of the Soviet Academy of Sciences and consists of scientists.
The first group was tasked with studying the military aspects of the problem, such as the possible influences of UFOs on the malfunctioning of military equipment and facilities, while the second group was tasked with studying the physical effects of UFOs and trying to understand the causes.
The first commission was coordinated by Colonel Boris Sokolov, the second commission by Professor Vladimir Migulin, flanked by Dr. Yulii Platov as deputy coordinator.
The work of the two commissions began in January 1978. Initially, it was decided not to use the term UFO, but the more neutral terminology of "anomalous phenomena of the atmosphere and space".
Work continued through 1990, examining reports of about 3, 000 sightings and interviewing witnesses. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, work resumed at the Russian Academy of Sciences with the aim of studying and integrating the available data; this phase lasted until 1995.
The results of the Setka program were disseminated by Sokolov (Setka-MO coordinator) and Platov (Setka-AN deputy coordinator) with an article published in 2000 in the Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the conclusions of the Platov and Sokolov study, 90% of the anomalous atmospheric phenomena observed on Soviet territory could be explained by the impact of human activities (mainly rocket launches and meteorological balloons), while the remaining 10% are unexplained.
For these latter cases, it has been suggested that the cause is to be sought in rare or as yet unknown natural phenomena.
However, no evidence of UFO landings or crashes, or of close contact or alien abductions has been found; moreover, there is no evidence of an extraterrestrial origin of the UFOs. [Герштейн Михаил Борисович (Редактор): Судьина Н. Издательство: АСТ, 2007 г.]

Those aliens in the Voronezh incident bear a strong resemblance to the Dark Ones from the Metro 2033

I’m a huge ufo nerd and have not heard of these incidents. Very interesting indeed. It seems pretty brazen and odd for them to drop down in the middle of a crowed park to get soil samples. They must have wanted to get some sort of human samples. Pretty crazy

"Flying saucer" was coined by the media. Kenneth Arnold reported the objects "flying as if saucers were skipping across water", and what he described and drew looked more like a Bat-a-rang than a circular disc. The media are responsible for reporting it as "flying saucers" and i really, really wish more people understood this.

As someone in the US, I love hearing stories about things that happen in other places. I know there are a lot more out there than I know of. Thank you for sharing this.

Incredible . I've actually never heard of any of these . These are the stories I love to hear, those I never heard and ones that are frightening . Especially there being a number of witnesses, military and law enforcement, why have I never heard of such a bazaar incident ? Those soldiers being turned to stone is insane, and the one in which a group of people of a hundred or more is bout the most convincing eye witness sighting I've heard about. Thank you BEDTIME STORIES for bringing these to my attention. I love listening to your guys stories.

I actually recall hearing about the incident regarding the 9 ft tall aliens who landed in Russia and who made some on-looking kid vanish in to thin air for a brief moment of time. Funny thing was though, was that I read about it through our "Weekly Readers" while still in elementary school at the time.

After having witnessed a UFO while at sea off the coast of Oregon it has definately a certain effect on you. Almost 20 years have past since then, and it still remains a fresh memory.
