I'm 63 and isn't it amazing how we remember the little things our Dad taught us and still use to this day!

Great you remember your dad as I do at 65 years old.

Thank you for these videos. I grew up in Tennessee, so maintaining a snow blower is new to me. I now feel prepared for the upcoming snow storm after our Ariens sat dormant through the summer. Also can’t wait to see your video after the storm!

I have 2020 SHO, I have not pulled my out of storage yet. Good to see your video on things to check, very informative. Let’s hope for a snowy winter, I didn’t get to use mine much last year, I’m in Wisconsin as well. Thanks for the video keep them coming, your videos steered me to the same machine. I can’t wait to hear it working like I watched yours!!!!

Thanks for the fall reminders Bruce and thanks for the shout-out for the Great Lakes Edition. That auger housing LED is very useful out here at our property in Michigan. No street lights and a fairly rural area, so it gets pretty dark out here at times even with the landscape lighting on. Cheers!

Nice video! Lots of good tips. I've been shovelling by hand for the last 40+ years up here in Toronto, and finally broke down and bought a 30 year old Ariens machine after the last massive snowfall we had in Feb or March. Still runs well, and looking forward to putting it through it's paces in the coming months.

It's about time for me to get mine ready to go too! I still need to get my lawnmower put away first though. Deer camp and constant rain has left me with little time to mulch up my leaves. Now I'm waiting for the snow to melt here in MI! haha

Had about 5 inches of wet snow. Ariens had no problem with it!

Thanks Bruce. I asked Ariens if they would be offering a Kraken light over the auger and unfortunately they said it wouldn’t be offered as an aftermarket upgrade.

I've switched over to non ethanol fuel. I've always had an issue with starting my snowblower I think this going to solve that issue.

Where in Wisconsin are you? Only curious. I live in Milwaukee and just saw your video today. I have a 2011 Ariens Compact snowblower and I practice what you preach and snowblower runs fine. The only thing I do not want to tackle is changing belts or fiction wheel and I had my dealership do that last spring. As you mentioned, I think I only used my snowblower 2-3 times for lack of snow last winter.

Would you still recommend changing your oil at the end of winter if you only used it 2 or 3 times due to lack of snow?

I don't think you need to go this nuts with tire pressure. Technicians have been using pen-style tire pressure gauges for tens of decades. I doubt we would still be using them, if buying a Rigid portable air compressor were really better. If you really want to make sure both are exactly the same, as best as possible, get a gauge that connects the tire pressures together--a dual pressure gauge. Most of this is a waste of time. Keep the blower together during the off months. start it up and drive is around once a month or so during off season and oil everything up. good to go. It's not like if you have a second car that you need to remove its tires to store it. And of all this, it was stores sitting on concrete, which you aren't supposed to do. So I guess just pick things that make sense to you only and do them.

Bruce, do you think the tire pressure changes when you put the tires back on the machine?

Great videos Bruce. Subscribed. That first gear is definitely too fast. I lowered it down considerably for really tight spaces, and I found in deep snow the bucket would tend to raise up. Much better now. They dont make those buckets like they use to. And they want alot for weight attachments. Thanks Bruce.

Do you know if tire chains hurt turning, help or hurt the machine?
