I have a full year of Spanish on Duolingo today. Did it for 9 months straight, last year, then went to German for 5months straight, then Russian for a month straight, only to go back to complete my full year of Spanish, recently. Its amazing to one day wake up, and you all of a sudden have this wider grasp on Spanish(any language). Still at A1 level but if I were to run into someone that hasn't seen me in years, they'd be impressed....I sure am after the breakthrough last week.

I love using “Cuidafe.”
No me gusta “Ciao” para “adios.” Colombians use that quite a lot. Having been a college instructor, I have known graduate students from many countries. One of the more odd Spanish dialects is that from Argentina. But, the Spanish I can almost never understand is that spoken by Cubans.

I live in Spain and people say “adios” all over the place. I’d say “hasta luego” is a bit more common but people definitely use them interchangeably.

I said Adios to my GF at the airport when she was leaving my country after a visit (she lives in a different country), it broke her heart, but i did not know at that time that Adios is like goodbye forever 😞
