Exactly what I though before, no distortion, and a soft drums, this song became a surf rock.

This is a actually very nice take on the original from Burzum and transposed to the Surf idiom. It kept the haunting theme. A surf band should record this with full instrumentation, add a few tempo changes and insert some tremolo picking to give it a bit more tension. And perhaps add a Bass VI to double some guitar parts...
