An interesting follow-up question would be, "Would you study as much to earn high grades if you knew 'grade socialization' would be applied to promote equality?" If the average answer is "no, " it suggests such social policies tend to degrade society by undermining motivation to work hard.

Yeah. I tried this with my college students who supported socialism. I asked how many of them would be willing to "give away" some of the points they had earned to get their A . . . and give those points to a student failing the class, but who hadn't worked as hard. I asked this question for the last 10 years I taught, from 2011 to 2021 . . . and NOT one student would give away any of the points they had "earned." Many of these students want to be given things, but conversely, they rarely want to give up anything in return.

I was born and raised in the former Soviet Union, I know firsthand about the horrors of socialism/communism. These young people are clueless and it is scary that they vote.
