Using Temporary Interventions to Activate Urban Wastelands with Gilly Karjevsky | reSITE City Talks
Показать описание
Gilly Karjevsky talks about the potential of urban wastelands as sites of public-facing urban intervention. Karjevsky notes that all urban areas are facing similar challenges in a globalized era, but that because they respond to them in their own unique ways, urban interventions must focus on the specific communities that they are occurring in. Rather than top-down massive infrastructural projects, Karjevsky hopes for urban infrastructural planning that can be thought of on a human scale.
Gilly Karjevsky is a Berlin-based independent artist and curator. She is the Co-director of ‘72 Hour Urban Action’ — an international real-time architecture competition that began in 2010 — with projects recently completed in Germany, Denmark, Italy, and Turkey.
AP was presented at reSITE In/Visible City 2017 and is a collaboration between Kerem Halbrecht, Gilly Karjevsky (co-directors, 72 Hour Urban Action), and Jennifer Aksu, Anna Hentschel, and Sebastian Quack (Invisible Playground), expanding on the discipline of Gameful Architecture.

reSITE is an international platform connecting people and ideas to improve the urban environment. We work at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, politics, culture, and economics.
We feature thought leaders whose work pushes the boundaries on how we build, design, regenerate and create life in cities, and frame them through many lenses, convening them in one place. We act as a catalyst for social action and innovative leadership. We encourage an exchange of ideas about making cities more livable, competitive, and resilient. We protect and promote public space, architecture, and sustainable development in cities.
All to make our cities more livable, competitive, resilient, inclusive, mobile, and designed with humans in mind.
