George Michael was a definite superstar. A phenomenon. You should check out his live duet with Elton John on the EJ classic Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

See if you can find the rehearsal footage, where George is going through the track, then Annie Lennox is stood at the back of the room watching, then David Bowie walks in, stands next to Annie and the two of them give each other that look - the look that musicians give each other when they've just seen some serious shit.

Speaks volumes to me about George, it really does. This artist's catalogue is a very worthy rabbit hole to disappear down. He's one of the best songwriters that the UK has produced in over 50 years and is very sadly missed.

When I hear George Michael, I have a mixture of joy and sorrow. He was my daughter's favorite singer. My oldest daughter died in an accident in 88. She was only 16 yrs old. We played his songs at her service. Many years later, my youngest daughter took me to see him in concert. I had no idea what an incredible vocalist he was. His live performance was stunning. People were standing almost the entire concert. When his lover died, it broke his heart. When I hear his song "Jesus to a Child" it always moves me to tears. His song "Praying for Time" is another one. When he passed away, it broke my heart. He was such a kind and wonderful person. I am 70 now and his music still affects me. RIP George

I was at Wembley that night and had never really been a big George Michael fan. On the night he was far and away the best performer and this showed me just what a great singer he was.

Poor old George was a complicated man who struggled to find inner peace. That said he was a UK treasure and we all loved him. He was a very generous man and would quietly pay for medical treatments. It was a sad loss when he died.

Queen asked George Michael to become the new lead singer of Queen after Freddie's death. He refused, saying Freddie Mercury could not be replaced.

"He can sing real good" might be the understatement of the decade. George ranks with all the legendary vocalists of the last century, including Freddie. But he was also an incredible songwriter and producer and it was in this area he took the most pride. He's done many covers and they are ALWAYS amazing abs full of respect for the original piece. Listen to his version of "They Won't Go When I Go". I don't advise that anyone ever try to Stevie Wonder song but he nails it. "Feeling Good", "Praying For Time", "An Easier Affair", Papa Was A Rolling Stone/Go To the City"... He does songs with. Mary J Blige that will blow you away.

There really isn't a bad song in the mix. We lost SO MUCH on Dec 26, 2016. I miss him terribly. I was fortunate enough to see him live twice. He sang a capella and held a crowd of 30, 000 in his hand. Gives me goosebumps.

George rehearsed with Queen for a week, before the concert because he wanted to get it right. On YouTube there is a bit of him rehearsing & Bowie & other artists are there and to see their reactions is amazing! We will always miss entertainers like George & Freddy! I doubt if we will ever see anyone like them with so much all around talent! George wrote almost all his own music starting with WHAM! Either listen to Songs From The Last Century or Symphonica to see how great his mature voice sounded! 🏳‍🌈🌸🎼🎵🎶

This is the best performance from the Freddie Tribute Concert. George totally nails this.

George was one of the kindest humans to exist on this planet. After his death his many acts of kindness came to light. One example was he was watching tv, saw a woman struggling to have a family and he sent her money for IVF. He did a lot of good behind the scenes. I was a teen when Wham appeared, every girl thought George was gorgeous, and being ‘gay’ wasn’t something that was talked about openly, ( late 70’s/80’s). George openly admitted his struggles with it, something the culture/ societal norms of the time would have been critical of. We (50/60 years old) have lived through a major change in attitudes( thankfully to a more understanding environment) as our parents generation had been bought up in an era when great minds like Alan Turing were persecuted for their, as the government called them ‘perversions’ to a time of an acceptance of something that has been part of society from the dawn of time.

I'm 63 and George Michael was the soundtrack of my youth. He led a difficult life, losing his partner to AIDS and then losing his mom not long after. He fought with his label, Sony, and prevented from performing for years. He was arrested in a park for soliciting which nearly ruined his career. Later he almost died from pneumonia and finally passed away in 2016. He was a great songwriter and performer. My favorite was his live performance of Jesus to a Child at the Grammys, which he wrote to honor his partner Anselmo.
