McCaskill Delivers Keynote Address at Summit on Military Sexual Violence (Highlights)

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today delivered the keynote address at the Service Women's Action Network (SWAN)'s Summit on Military Sexual Violence. McCaskill—a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and a former Prosecutor for Jackson County (the region that includes Kansas City)—has introduced legislation that would curtail the authority of military commanders to dismiss jury convictions against sex offenders. Her bill would also require written justifications when sentences are lessened or commuted.
