Excellent points from Suze. People don’t understand her because she goes beyond the simple math and into the root causes.

Self worth should be considered alongside net worth. For example, who would you rather be? Person A) a hard working person with a good skill, with not a lot of money in the bank, but can find a new job easily. Or Person B, a person with no skills, with a 6-month emergency fund. I would much rather be Person A.

That’s what Suze is saying, that we have to work on ourselves and our skills as opposed to just saving up some cash.

Security, that’s what most people are after. Not having to worry about how the bills will be paid each month. Not some random net worth number.
