I would argue that rising population is not really the driving force behind such innovations. Even though the world will be home to 8 billion after 2023, the rate of change is at a decline, less babies are being born globally, including China and India, and the world is also getting older, just look at Europe and East Asia. The real reason behind this convergence of manufacturing and construction is two-fold, the Internet of Things, when smart tech powered by microprocessors basically are found in everything, and climate change and moving past fossil fuels. These are the true driving forces behind the fusion of traditional construction with lean manufacturing.

As a tradesmen I thInk about countries in China who can build things at scales and speed uncomprehensible in North America. I talk to people at work aboUt the future of trades and they all think they are irreplacable. what advice do you give to the average tradesmen who is still young to prepare for a new future in construction?
