“Expres” started in 1976 as the backing band for Helena Vrtichová, including two more female soloists at the same time. Those girls have changed over time, but the band was more or less consistent in its production. That has been based primarily on dance music. Some pieces are very well made, some are disputable. But talking about dance music in Slovakia back then, "Expres" was more than successful in creating interesting pieces for dancing. One of the original songs written by band guitarist Emil Jančovič is "Máš vážnu tvár". It combines disco, funk and a bit of pop rock elements with interesting syncopated beat, which is not usual for disco music of this period. Interesting vocal parts based on choir singing are typical for the band “Expres”. “Máš vážnu tvár” is a B-side of their commercially most successful SP vinyl, but much better than the A-side. There we can find cover of the famous German disco-schlager hit “Sun Of Jamaica” originally performed by “Goombay Dance Band”. Slovak cover unfortunately absolutely failed in production. In fact, we can't expect anything better from a German schlager, not even from it's cover version created in former Eastern bloc. "Máš vážnu tvár" is as other songs written by Emil Jančovič (e.g. “Skús”) sharing similar qualities and unique disco style. At least in Slovak context. "Máš vážnu tvár" is definitely conected with previous years, talking about music style in global. In Czechoslovak context, where new trends usually appeared at least 5 years later, is arrangement of this song appropriate. Unfortunately "Expres" is despite of its appereances in TV today absolutely forgotten band.
