Learn about Black history, experience, and art at a historic museum.

Located at 7th and Arch Streets, the African American Museum in Philadelphia is the first museum built by a major U.S. city that is dedicated to preserving and exhibiting Black history and culture. Not to be missed is Audacious Freedom: African Americans in Philadelphia 1776 - 1876, a fascinating, interactive, permanent exhibit featuring full sized video projections of historic figures such as Octavius Catto, Richard Allen, and Frances Ellen Watkins Harper. Also on view through March 6 is Richard Watson: Portals and Revelations Beyond Realties, a career spanning show tracking the creative evolution of the 40-year AAMP artist-in-residence and @pafacademy graduate. The museum offers several great virtual exhibits through their website as well.
