More sober drivers are being arrested for DUI in Phoenix

One Phoenix officer, a certified expert in detecting impaired driving, has arrested multiple people for DUI who had no detectable alcohol or drugs in their systems.

That DRE director needs to be fired. I am a retired physician with training in law enforcement and medical investigation. I will say that DRE training is NOT complete and thorough enough to arrest someone. Detain? Yes. Investigate? Yes. But when the labs show no intoxicating or illegal substances, a formal apology by letter AND in person is owed. Oh yes, anytime someone claims to be an "expert"; he usually isn't.

This just happened to a friend of ours.
He blew negative for alcohol seven times but they charged him with a DUI and refusal to cooperate when he wouldn't take the test an eighth time.

They're clogging up the court system with non criminals. This is clearly retributory to those charged. The gall of that supervisor to say he has no problem with that officer is infuriating.

Something I learned the hard way when one of my children were wrongly arrested. In addition to having the charges dismissed, it’s also important to have the record expunged. Otherwise the arrest (false or not) shows for the rest of their lives in the record.
