What's the most useful guitar etude to develop technique?

I think the most useful and beneficial etude for me was El Abejorro by Pujol. I must record it one of these days!

Carcassi is definitely still underrated by students. The problem with those is that there are so many 'modern' versions out there that don't consider Carcassi's main ideas, which IMO are the real values that one can transfer into modern repertoire. A bit hard to explain in a simple text unfortunately,

Not only a great piece for technique, but a very dramatic one as well. It gives me the feeling of being aboard a light tartan, fighting the heavy weather to stay afloat.

That’s the one. It really helped that it’s just so catchy!

Villa Lobos Etude #1. Great for the right hand -- m and a strength and dexterity. The first 4 bars fine for the exercise. Giuliani Op. 100 # 5 or anything from Op.100!

The Rey de la Torre edition of the Carcassi Op. 60 studies, published by Editions Orphee, is one of my prized possessions. His notes on No. 7 here are great.

I'm learning this on music school, beautiful piece and great introduction to tremolo. It's kind of hard to me also applying the ergonomic style of Abel Carlevaro, but I hope it'll be rewarding :)

No 1. from this set is also very beneficial but you have to play the staccati as written.

The one you are playing would be my guess it looks really tricky but of course you make it look easy and sound beautiful.

To me what helped the most and still I find really useful is not an etude but Segovia’ s Scale. By the other side what was really a game changer is the Prelude of 1006a by JSB, I’m still struggling with it but now what before looked difficult now is playable. Just my 2 cents
