Πυρκαγιά ξέσπασε στον οικισμό Μελία του Δήμου Αλεξανδρούπολης. Έκλεισε η Εγνατία Οδός λόγω κινδύνου επέκτασης της φωτιάς για την προστασία των πολιτών, ενώ εκκενώθηκαν και οικισμοί. Η φωτιά επεκτάθηκε από την Δ.Ε. Φερών σε αυτή της Τραϊανούπολης, με τους ισχυρούς ανέμους που πνέουν στην περιοχή να δυσκολεύουν αφάνταστα το έργο των πυροσβεστικών δυνάμεων.
