I'm a highschool student and have been thinking a lot about what I specifically want to do in music and audio engineering's been on my mind a lot. I love writing songs and have just started to dabble into using Ableton and it's pretty confusing but I'm hoping I can get the hang of it soon :)

I think for a lot of people there’s a part of your journey that balances between artist and technician. And sometimes you think you’re more technical and you’ll be an engineer. But it’s also ok to consider yourself an artist and delve deeper into your creative voice when being technical it’s just thinking deeper about why, creatively, you do that technical thing

I just want to learn engineering so I can focus on that as a profession instead of looking at my actual passion (creating) like a job. Cause I’d never be able to consistently do one thing everyday and not switch it up that’s insanity to me, I’ve always needed two jobs so for some this works in tandem.

The odd thing about today’s issues with recording and engineering and so on most people just wanna film themselves, talking about equipment and hooking up equipment and painting the walls, but little was done on the creative side of actually making music

For me, it started by just wanting to play the guitar. I met some cool guys in high school and we all really enjoyed playing music. They were older than me and we’re really heavily into recording and I knew nothing about it, but I always thought it was really interesting and then I learned to record, mix…it’s just been an amazing journey for me and am grateful for all the people I met through the process.

I’m in a season of similar transition! Just moved to Nashville from LA to lean more into the creation side!

I’ve been mixing and mastering fulltime for my living for 10 years.
I’ve been an artist (also was a dj) for 20 years.
Audio engineering easily took over in terms of demand, and the money is there, I won’t lie.
I still make music and I always will but sure enough engineering does make a huge dent on it, won’t lie about that either.
I really like engineering though.

I picked up producing & engineering to help me write better songs! Sometimes if you’re able to capture what your ear finds interesting, it may just lead you to writing a better song for it!

Actually study engineering, it's an art that is deeper than making music.

I’m more of the creative too but the engineering is value that you bring besides creating but he right maybe he rather create more

I want to be an audio engineer but I’m afraid I can’t make a living off of it. Any advice?
