Excellent vintage wide-angle lens for less than $30!!

Today we are taking a closer look at Vivitar 28mm f2.8 MC Close Focus Wide Angle. This lens is real bargain - it can be acquired very cheaply, but it also performs really well - both as a landscape lens and as a close up lens. I enjoyed using it quite a lot.

Went out and bought a copy of this because of this review. Went with Minolta SR mount, and mounting it is a tad (we're talking like 0.5mm) off from actual Minolta, using a K&F Concept MD-NEX PRO adapter. The minimum focus range is amazing, and IQ was just as it is with your photos!

I'm not particularly fan of 28mm's but having such close focus have to consider it
.. also worth mentioning: I'm really pleased with my Komine made "Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm" it is indeed a legendary zoom, my copy is prone to purple fringes but easy to correct in post, it gives it's images a kind of 3D-Pop and pounchy colors many many modern primes just would dream of .. So Komine-made is no joke !

Another excellent video - the close focus ability is really impressive. I was always aware of Vivitar but I'd never paid their stuff that much attention - I did buy one of their lenses recently, a M42 screw mount 28mm f2.5 (I was attracted by the slightly faster f2.5) which I haven't tried yet, it's in the "waiting to be fixed" pile because it needs it's optics cleaned.

found one Nikon copy today, did some IR-photography with it with my full-spectrum converted Z6. I really like the results, suberb bokeh and this lens performs also very well in IR. In UV I have to find out, I don't expect it since its multicoated and has 7 elements. But you never know since the Nikkor AIS 24mm with 8 elements performs great in UV. < great review again>

I bought a Nikon FG kit through private sale for $30 CAD and they threw in this lens for free, but it's f/2.0. I haven't tried it out yet though, still waiting to get an adapter as it's FD mount. This video just got me 1000x more excited for it!
