Truth is, both sides have people that think of the other in a positive light and also some that treat the other in a negative light. I have seen it both ways

That's her experience and it's valid. There are people in America that feel exactly like she says. My prayer is that in the future we will bridge the gap. Lord willing, It Will Happen!!!

She is very correct! As someone who has many African friends, I’ve had to check many African Americans on the little comments they make. They don’t see their own reflection, they think that because we are in American we are better.

On behalf of brothers and sisters in the States, we apologize for the treatment you have endured to feel the way you do because of how you've (Kenyans/Africans) have been treated. It's unfortunate that we all have to wear the label a few have made bad decisions that affect us all. I personally want to say it's many of us who love you as we should and respect the culture and we want to learn while treating you as the family you are. Peace and blessings to each and everyone. Praise YAH always!! Blessup

Everybody wants sympathy but keep in mind black Americans are not always treated well in Africa white Europeans are tho. Let's talk about that. A lot of black Americans have been poisoned and killed in Africa from envious and jealous people. Not all of them but there's a lot of them who ain't telling the truth.

As an American who went to Africa pretty recently she’s pretty on point the bums of America go home and start acting like their the lost kings of their country it’s honestly pretty sad and will make them resent us American people are to self centered but yea that’s my opinion from what I seen back home

It’s because of lies we’ve been fed on both sides about each other. But that’s why I’m grateful for platforms like YouTube and TikTok allowing us to come together and see the lies for what they are and reconnect.

I believe it goes both ways due to individual experiences, we all need to treat each other better.

Black Americans treat each other like that in the USA

To this lady's point, I've heard a Kenyan say that Black Americans think that they're better than Africans, but at least they, as Africans, were "passing" Black Americans in life. But see, one experience should not dictate another. Not all Black Americans mistreat Africans. Plus, she mentioned that she thinks that Black Americans treat Africans the way that whites treat Black Americans, but what about the negative perceptions that they have about us? For example, some Africans have said that their parents have told them that they should never marry Black Americans, but White Americans instead. What about that?

Also, if she wants to know where our misconceptions of Africa come from, she needs to take a look at part of the US media and education system. The mainstream media rarely reports anything about Africa, and when it does, it's something negative. Plus, as great as the US education system is considered to be, it hardly teaches Black Americans anything about Africa prior to college. Much of American history is still taught from a white perspective. So, since she brought up the muzungus (white people), in a nutshell, as I heard a Black American sister say, certain whites lie to Black Americans about Africa and its people, and also lie to Africans about Black Americans. It's basically called hide (the truth) and divide (black people), because the conquering part already happened.

I am one black sad to say American that thinks differently. I want to latch onto the culture more than anything because I was deprived of it! I’ll be there soon and hope to set the record straight because I know that there are a lot of us here in America that feel the same way. It’s all love on my end.🫶🏽
