To the reviewer who says the tempo is too fast I would say you need to be more open minded and listen to different performances/interpretations of the same piece whenever possible. You certainly have a right to your opinion. However, there is nothing invalid about this performance. It is wonderful. Listening to a greater variety of performances beyond your favorite opens up your mind a bit it and may make you even more appreciative of the performances you do value most. Sometimes you may be surprised when your preferences change.

This is the first time I've truly felt/inwardly understood this symphony. Until this great performance, I had experienced it as overblown and therefore not convincing. Here its power and integrity is revealed by great musicians, solemn, magnificent, troubled.

Wunderschöne und detaillierte Aufführung dieser einzigartigen doch perfekt komponierten Sinfonie mit farbenreichen doch perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt echt schön und auch mysteriös. Der intelligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das hoch funktionelle Orchester im gut analysierten Tempo und mit sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Es ist sehr schwierig, dieses Meisterwerk ohne Langweile zu spielen. Diese Leistung ist eine seltene Ausnahme davon. Danke wie immer!

All those who claimed that French composers can’t write symphonies are here totally confounded! Here played by a German orchestra with sensitivity and power and emotion, revealing the symphonic structure brilliantly. A great conductor.
