I've listened to this over and over since it was released. I was blessed to be at the concert as a fourteen-year old, one of the great events in my life!

I wore this album out when I was a kid!  This is one of the best cuts of One O'Clock in recorded history in my view.

The greatest tenor saxophonist of his time, the incomparable Lester Young. The Basie band, the best for swing dancing then. And Roy Eldridge, one of the top trumpet players of all times.

As swingin" as ever...very cool. I was at Newport in '69 or '70 when George Wein had to cancel the rest of the festival because people were rushing the fences and trying to get in for free like at Woodstock. But anyway...this is a timeless cut and thank you for posting it!

Roy Eldridge's solo here may be of of the best in recored jazz! Lester Youg kills it too, but Eldridge is sublime.
