I'm sure that most of you have used MSN Messenger at some point in your life. Maybe you remember it as Windows Live Messenger. But today I'm going to be showcasing an alternative server that allows you to use this IM client in the modern day!

It was my first time online, being 13 years old back in 2006.
To this day, I believe it was the simplest form of communication, much better than facebook or instagram.

MSN Messenger could have been the Facebook messenger of our time. Yes they ended it for PC but could have been the king of Android as the go-to messenger app.

Good idea: buy skype when the 90% of internet users using Messenger
Bad idea: Close Messenger and mix accounts in skype, 6 months later, nobody use this again and now is only avaliable for win 10 enterprise

I really loved that software. So versatile. Pretty much any version of it could be used to connect to the service, even that basic Windows Messenger that came with XP. I remember prefering 8.5 and used various tools to mod the hell out of it, stripping it of any UI bloat and so on. Ending out with a lightweight IM client that did what it was supposed to do. All the way back in 2007, I enabled the chat history function, so all my chats were saved in HTML. Still got those. Very cringy material. Anyway, who gives a shit. Just good times.

Oh boy do I miss that! Way better than today's Skype. Live Messenger UI was great.

i never liked skype for instant messaging i always thought of it as a video chat application....msn was superior and had more costumazation ! you could change fonts colors and you had custom emojis and icons!!! i always loved saving more little icons!! i miss those days!

I remember the days being a teenager going on the MSN Chatrooms and MSN Messenger... then MSN decided to shutdown the chatrooms, because they were worried about children's safety online meeting people. Similar to what social apps and Facebook does today.

MSN Messenger was brilliant, but after the chatrooms shut down, I think it slowly killed it off :( but it was still a brilliant software. Microsoft should never have merged it with Skype.. instead simply kept it going and updating it.

Microsoft could easily bring MSN Messenger back as an app and desktop messenger and still think it would gain popularity again!
