Could the Fizik Artica X5 be the perfect winter boot? How does it fare in the wet, the cold... the snow?! What's it like to walk in? How much does it cost? All this, and more, will be answered in this video.

can't agree more on the difficulty to zipup around the bend; in my case putting the vaseline helped a lot, at least making it smoother for the zipper to move up.

Under heavy rain water will eventually get into that large hole of any waterproof cycling shoe. I found that a pair of drysuit ankle seals over the top of the neoprene cuff can be used to stop water getting in with a minor mod/ hack it's 10% sorted.

Love these boots... I've tried numerous winter shoes over the years and nothing has come close to these. I totally agree that the fastening system could do with a rework, I find tucking the lace under the inside ankle bone helps along with zipping them up while standing and your foot forward on a step... I also add a little wd40 to the zip after cleaning. 😃

The long lace has probably been designed like that so you can wrap it around your hand and pull it really tight!

Great shoes! I wear it down to -20°C with a merino sock. After three years of using Fizik Artica, the seam on the right aqua-zip began to diverge. Maybe because I have a high instep. Took a size larger. Probably the next will have to take a half.

Interesting. I have Nothwave Cesius boots which are nice and warm but on long rides in heavy rain they eventually give up on the idea of being waterproof. Yours look like a step up from those.

Nice review, the big hole is always the issue in winter boots as the rain runs down your legs and fills the boots up. I use a pair of sealskinz mid length waterproof socks if expecting heavy rain so my feet stay dry and warm despite sloshing in rain water. Definitely a rugged looking pair of winter boots.👍

Great review. I think I might try a pair of these. I have narrow feet and small ankles, so I suspect that I won't have too much trouble with the zip. I generally don't like sealed zippers, as I find they lose waterproofness before everything else, but since it's backed up by a membrane it's probably ok. And since temps rarely go below 0°C here in Vancouver, this seems like it would be plenty warm.

Good info tip for dry feet in crazy rain first 3/4 pants shaven legs why you ask because i duct tape the boots around ankle not too tight and then you have dry feet water runs down your legs over your shoes no wet feet .

Lovely review! Quick question, does the back of the shoe has a reflector/ reflective emblem?

Waterproof ? I dont think so. Mine got wet all the way through the other day, but i was raining cats and dogs, so maby the water came in in the top. I took a couple of dayes drying up. They are nice, comfy and warm, but next time im out in the rain, I will wear my grip grap raincover :-)
