It's funny because Lan Wangji is both "Jin Ling's future uncle-in-law" because he's Wei Wuxian's husband, but LWJ is also "Jin Ling's sworn-uncle-in-law" because his uncle Jin Guangyao is sworn brothers with LWJ's brother Lan Xichen. So even though LWJ is not related to Jin Ling by blood, he's his uncle by two counts hahaha

This is so so funny! In Chinese, they’re all different kinds of uncles (with different names for maternal/paternal, blood/sworn/martial, elder/younger/numbered), and this joke simply doesn’t work, but in English, where all these different kinds of uncles maps to just uncle, it’s hilarious.
