sidechaining is forever my fav effect. it makes the kick so much more juicier

sidechaining is actually just when there's more than 1 source of audio going into an effect. only when that effect is a compressor it results in gain modulation. a sidechain ringmodulator for instance multiplies the signals with each other

Can we Talk about how his Voice is matching the Beat so good?!

He isn't just talking, he IS the a part of the song. The music pauses for a brief moment when he says "here", which is a common method used to add emphasis to a beat drop. And, what do you know, the beat drop happens right after.

Found this channel some time ago and bro single handedly carrying me through every new thing I've learned about this software. Simple, concise, informative with demonstrations every step of the way. Thank you for these shorts and your actual videos, I been tippin around in those too.

Crazy amazing. Consise, enjoyable, easy to understand, and you did it all in a YouTube short.

for those who work on Ableton:
1- Put a Compressor in the synth (or the track you want the sidechain)
2- Press the arrow/triangle located in the top left corner of the plugin so you extend it to more options
3- Press the Sidechain button
4- In the input select the track where your kick is located
5- Adjust Threshold and other parameters
Extra: you can do this exact same process with the Glue Compressor

A better way to sidechain imo is with fruity balance

1. Put fruity balance on the mixer channel you want to sidechain, create an automation clip and set max value to 80%

2. Customise the envelope of the automation clip however you need it

3. Chop up the automation clip and paste it onto every kick/snare or whatever

4. Enjoy sidechaining with much more freedom and customisation

I've always wondered! I literally just left a pool party listening to some bangers and thinking about this! Thx, fam.

I hate it when stuff is ducked with the kick really aggressively. It makes me feel like someone's rhythmically suctioning my ear canals.

I had to watch it twice to understand but the editing was so smooth and fun that it was a nice jam of info to take in.

sidechaining really helps when there's too much shit happening in a song and you just want everything to fit together

i already know sidechaining (and it's probably one of my favorite things in the music i make) but that doesn't take away from how cool this video shows it off! great stuff

I do this on all my tracks, it sounds cool but it’s a great way to make your mix sound cleaner

60k/BPM is the formula for the release when ducking anything so it stays on beat. The answer is a whole note in the BPM of the song, and you can cut that up however you wish if you want different note values.

on ableton its wayy easier, you can do it multiple ways but the easiest is to add an envelope follower, deselect the mod button then where it says 100 you're gonna put 0 and where it says 0 youre gonna put 50 and then you map it to any channel with a utility on it
