Man, this song always brings back so many memories. I used to listen to "Alive" as a little kid, but I only really started listening to Black when I was about 15 years old. I used to always listen to this song while I would cycle to my then-girlfriend and I would not think about these lyrics at all. However, I found myself really thinking about the lyrics while I was filming this cover and suddenly got goosebumps all over. Love this song.. Anyway, don't bother learning all the variations. Just like with Alive, it's very likely that Jeff recorded the song in one go and so he just played all sorts of variations to keep things fresh. Not great when you're transcribing a song, but oh well. It's worth it. Jeff is not always fully in tune in this song which you can definitely hear at 2:21.
