Het Nederlandse televisieprogramma "Countdown" was van 1976 t/m 1993 “Europe’s Number 1 Rock Show” en werd uitgezonden bij Veronica. Later werd het programma ook uitgezonden in het buitenland en was het op z'n hoogtepunt in meer dan 20 landen op televisie te zien.

Gedurende deze 17 jaar muziekgeschiedenis zijn er opnames gemaakt met talloze internationale sterren, zoals Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, U2, The Police, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Depeche Mode, New Order, Whitney Houston, Duran Duran, R.E.M., Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Cure, Run DMC, Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, New Kids On The Block, LL Cool J.

Uiteraard kwamen Nederlandse top-acts als Doe Maar, Andre Hazes, Herman Brood, Frank Boeijen, Spargo, Golden Earring, Time Bandits, De Dijk, De Raggende Manne, Hans de Booij, Gerard Joling, Drukwerk ook langs voor een optreden in Bussum.

Countdown werd gepresenteerd door oa Lex Harding, Erik de Zwart, Adam Curry, Simone Walraven Wessel van Diepen, Jeroen van Inkel, Rob Stenders, Simone Angel en Jasper Faber.

After the debut album Army of lovers failed in sales, this "genius" Bard pulled up another "Army" of his most talented acquaintances to record the songs of the second album Army of Lovers, so that these talented people, in the studio, made him a "sound candy", since their own weak voices were only enough for the failure of their first album. His main companion, professional musician Anders Wollbeck, just introduced professional singers into this project, whom they never showed, either in their music videos or at their performances. They wanted to show only loved themselves everywhere. But it all looked very good in the music videoclips, thanks to the money invested. As a result, the producers contributed money to their sound recordings and music videos. However, there was some "reverse effect", and, unfortunately, not in their favor. It turned out that in music videos they deceived huge masses of people by opening their mouths to other people's voices (in music videos they indicated only themselves). They imitated that they were the ones singing. And people had the deceptive impression that they were "very talented singers." That is, with these music videos and the voices of professional singers specially hired by the producer, they attracted the main attention of a multi-million TV audience. Their popularity has increased greatly, and sales of their albums have gone up. But they did not want to invest in a real and high-quality large-scale show of their solo concerts, due to their inability to control their own voices (the conclusion is based on the live performances of Bard aka "Barbie" before "Army of lovers"). It was for this reason that they went on the stage, already as clowns, to a constant voice soundtrack. At the same time, the effect of "stars from music videos" abruptly began to disappear, since none of these music videos had ever been on the stage. Only the throne stood there. And the eternal voice soundtrack was turned on, since they could not sing it all live, due to the fact that in their songs there are too many voices of people who are not related to their composition, whom they stubbornly did not want to show so that their huge "soap bubble" would not burst prematurely. Bard himself chose such a cheap concept for his performances, and thus he himself signed that they were, in fact, not talented singers, but real incompetents. After such "concerts", interest in them began to decline. That's the whole price of this "Army".
