Ubass Demo: Does It Funk???

In this video I am demoing an awesome fretless Ubass that was generously sent to me by Aklot Ukuleles! I was eager to get my hands on a Ubass, I had never played one before but I thought owning one would be cool due to their convenience and portability! I love it because it sounds like a upright bass in some tones and in other sounds like an old 70's bass

This is why I love the U-bass so much! The rubber gut strings give you the best of two worlds, you can make it sound electronically funky like a bass guitar or make it sound acoustically warm like a double bass.

Wooow bro! It absolutely funks! I've been thinking about picking up a UBass since I couldn't bring my bass abroad when I moved, and this video definitely makes me want it even more.

Problem with their basses is that the secret is out and now they are jacking the prices up. I might go with the fretted version, instead of fretless though. I find due to the very short scale length, one has to be very precise to not mess up the intonation or get very good at making these adjustments on the fly. I might be more inclined to not plug it in also and find some way of micing it instead. You can get something approaching an upright bass as is. They are so rugged too. Such a cool instrument and it fits in an average suitcase too.
