Would you eat a cicada? We tried them so you don't have to. The Brood X cicadas only emerge every 17 years, and they are swarming in areas in southeast Michigan. The bugs are edible, and chefs around the nation have been putting out recipes. Tacos, sushi, salad, pasta? Sure. Why not? Cicadas can add some protein to any of those dishes. Experts advise that anyone with a shellfish allergy should avoid eating cicadas as they are in the same family.
