Zip Up Cast = No More Cast Saw⁉️ #shorts

A zip-up cast? From the ancient Egyptian era to the present day, advances in the field of casting and immobilization devices continue to provide options that are lightweight, easier to use, safer on the skin, and even waterproof.
.
Device Shown: The FlexiOH® is an orthopedic immobilizer that has the rigidity to hold the fractured part as well as ensuring proper skin ventilation. The immobilizer (silicone rubber, light curable resin and nitrile rubber foam) comes as an easy to fix wearable material that can be zipped onto the injured part. Light treatment completes the curing process and makes the splint rigid (3-10 minute process depending on size). The immobilizer is radiolucent and can be removed without the use of any other external cast cutter or spreader. #cast #brokenbones #armcast

I like the idea of easy to put on and take off as well as some airflow but there would have to be some mechanism to prevent patients from zipping it down themselves

I currently have an ActivArmor cast on. Absolute GAME CHANGER!! I saw this one as well as one other one and am happy I went with ActivArmor. This one and the other one I saw (pretty similar to eachother) didn't seem nearly as solid as the one I have on now. I can shower, get in pools of water, get great airflow so the skin heals faster, itching wherever I please (but with the airflow, it isnt nearly as itchy), sweat and not worry about the smell. Just downright makes sense over being stuck in a plaster cast... medical industry needs to get with the program!

I had one of these. Was amazing. Unzipping it on a hot day way amazing too. My wrist healed amazingly

Awesome and when you have an itch you don't have a problem reaching it!!!

It would be great in an emergency situation or multiple injuries. It also has open spaces so it would not be as hot. You wouldn't have to worry about getting it wet. All in all I can't wait for it. I'm 53 and have broken 40 or so bones and I wish I would have had something like that.

As a materials manager for Ortho for 13 years i must say deroyal 3M or djo should take note this is cool. Very cool. Zipper needs ro be detached or removed while on outpatient surgeries.

The zipper in this video will absolutely interfere with X-ray imaging. Also, the casting material will show up on X-ray as a translucent shadow. Which is why it should be removed prior to imaging.

I feel like the zipper is also the downfall. Patients would be forever taking it off to the point where it could interfere with healing. At least traditional casts are harder for them to take off so they're much more likely to follow the treatment.

What about the metal zipper and X-ray? Then sweating against plastic? Also patients might take it off when they are not suppose to.
But it’s breathable and you can Bath and itch.
Both negative and positive vibes going on

I had a cast that they molded two year limb… And you loosened and tightened it with a knob. It was awesome!

That's pretty cool. I wish they had it a few years ago! I shattered my right leg! Busted my tibia in 3 big pieces and a bunch of little ones between the bigger pieces. When the ambulance came. They were using an air cast that was broken and wouldn't hold air and kept deflating! So my trip to the hospital was awful and very painful! Hopefully they make something like that they can use in the field!
