My wife is Sephardic her grandparents came from Kastoria, Greece.Several of her aunts and uncles were from Greece and spoke ladino.

On my first visit to Greece, 1991, I went to the Jewish museum in Athens, introduced me to more Jewish culture than I normally see.
May l recommend a book Salonica..city of ghosts, by Mark Mazower, useful account of a lost Jewish community.
If you’re in the Balkans, please visit the Jewish museum of Berat, Albania, it’s in danger of closure.

Queen Elizabeth's husband, PrincePhilip( who was born a prince of Greece🇬🇷 and Denmark🇩🇰), his mother sheltered family friends during the occupation of Athens. In 1994, Prince Philip accompanied his mother's remains as they were reinterred on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, his mother, Princess Alice of Battenburg was interned on the Mount where it's believed the first temple stood as a Righteous Gentile among the Jews. On their recent 2017 and 2018 visits, Both Princes Charles and William visited their grandmother and great grandmother's final resting place.

Previously Princess Alice had been interred at the Royal mausoleum at Frogmore near Windsor Castle.
