4.2 is huge for an agitator top loader. Considering families are smaller today and want a huge washer.

Back in the day families were bigger with smaller washers and we were happy to have them.

Larger capacity tubs don't really mean much when these newer washers take twice as long as the older style washers.

I recommend this washer without reservation, it is the great grandchild of a GE washer I purchased in 1993 which has never needed repair (it's matching dryer never has either) and still works perfectly. I gave that washer and dryer to a needy friend and purchased this model and it's dryer and they are both quiet, efficient, and work great. The original pair cost $800 for the pair in 1993 so GE has kept the price point quite well.

I'm happy with my 15 year old top washer.
Does a great job, and, after drying in my 20 year old dryer (replaced the belt) ... well, I'm happy.
That said, I'll probably buy and iPhone 7S when it comes out.

I have the 4.5 version of this you can select the amount of water you want to put in it's not that loud like you see on YouTube the vibration is minimal even with a large quilt heavy duty cotton one spin cycle also has an extra long spin cycle it goes on and on and on Rings out everything perfectly for the dryer the agitator sounds like Robby the Robot but nowhere as loud as on YouTube they must put the microphone up really close it seems to have a lot of torque definitely cleans clothes better than my last Maytag which was a 3.5

My model is GTW500ASN0WS, serial LR999206G, and I’m probably looking at electrical damage underneath from a basement flooded and got a foot tall of water that affected the bottom part of the washer. I’m trying to figure out would need to be replaced? I opened and closed the lids six times I unplugged the machine for a minute, I press the buttons for the wash cycle it makes a noise, but then it does not show the fill button light, gyrates for a second, and does not jet water out and then makes the finish button noise three minutes later

You think this washer having an agitator makes it bad? Impellers barely clean your clothes compared to an agitator! Unless you care more about efficiency, agitators are the best option

Who the heck cares about all of the features that manufacturers are putting on today’s washers? Just clean the god damn cloths please! Also, a lot of these “impeller” style models are terrible on cloths since it’s essentially beating them until they’re clean

For $650 are they crazy!? Samsung has better ones for less money! C'mon do your research before putting such a product with old school design and low functionality.
