When my sister was born, our kitty had just had kittens a few weeks before. She kept putting her babies in the crib with my sister.
My mom finally setup a kitty bed underneath the crib and the kitty moved in and watched over my sister. My mom said it blew her away.

She was laying on my belly a lot and licking it, and she never did that before.
A few days later I did a test, and I was pregnant. For the whole nine months she did not leave my side.
My son was born, and my cat stopped with being nice to my belly.

Many years ago my wife had a brain bleed that almost did her in and in the meantime my youngest daughter was pregnant and had taken a LOA so she moved in to help my wife recover.
We had a beautiful female tuxedo cat that would go to my wife's room to be with her and then get up to find our daughter and check on her and then start the routine over again.
Her concern was so touching and when the baby was born, my daughter still helped with her mom but brought the baby with her and the cat added checking on the baby as part of her routine.
We called her "Nurse Katie", one of the sweetest cats ever.

They can hear and feel the baby’s heartbeat. My kitty was born 2.5 months before my son. As a young kitten herself she’d curl up next to or on my belly for warmth and comfort once her momma had started to wean her & her brothers. With my 2nd, my daughter who came three years later she did the same thing. She would rarely sleep right next to or on me except when I was pregnant. And my vet confirmed that cats can feel and hear the baby’s heartbeat and the warmth that comes from your pregnancy belly. It’s a comfort mechanism for them.

When I was pregnant with my firstborn we adopted a stay kitten. He loved to fall asleep on my belly. When my son was born and we took him home, the cat came over to look at him in his car seat. He smelled his face and rubbed his cheek on the baby’s hands. And ever since then they’ve been inseparable. He still sleeps on my son’s bed every night 7 years later.
