How to Solve Public Watch Hours Not Updating on YouTube : Watch Time Not Updated in Monetization Tab

Have you noticed that your public watch hours have not been increasing over the past few days?

Are you concerned because you'll soon be applying for monetization and your watch hours are falling short of the required amount?

You don't have to worry.

Let's take a look at a case of public watch hours not been updated.

Here's a video that has recently been uploaded.

It was uploaded on October 1.

It has collected about 196 hours of watch time from October 1.

However, these watch hours have not been updated on the Monetization dashboard.

So, what should you do?

You have to be patient.

Public watch hours aren't updated in real time.

They're updated every few days.

The video was uploaded on October 1.

Let's check to see when the public watch hours were last updated.

Hover your mouse over the i icon.

You'll see that the hours were last updated on September 30.

This was before the video was uploaded on Oct 1.

It is now the 3rd of October. So, YouTube will soon update the public watch hours.

Let's wait and see for some time.

We can see that the public watch hours have been updated.

Your public watch hours will not be updated in the following instances:

1. Time generated by Unlisted, Private, or deleted videos

2. Time generated by active live streams.

3 Time generated by paid promotion through Google Ads campaigns

4. Time generated by views of non-monetizable content

5. Time generated by you viewing your own videos from either their Edit or Watch pages

So, if your public watch hours have not been updated, don't panic.

First, check when they were last updated.

And then wait for a few days.

The watch hours will be updated.

In our case, it took about three full days for the watch hours to be updated.

This was actually incredibly helpful I published 2 videos with 250 hrs previously logged those videos are doing well and the video watch time analytics say over 900 hrs from them alone but my monetization hrs are about half & I've been bugging out about them not being correct and while I hoped this was the case now I can take a breath and just be patient

It says on the dashboard, 173 watch hours reached in the last few weeks, but on monetisation tab, it says 30 watch hours

I have over 50 hours of time that has not been added to my watch time in over a week. It may say it gets updated every couple days but they are still not giving me the hours I am owed. In the 50 hours of watch time I know I have, I have been credited with 1 hour. They are not reporting the time correctly and are ripping us off....period.

This watch hours can make you feel discourage sometimes. Mine keep going back and forth. Am so confused... Doesn't the watch hours increase @ the earn level?

I have over 3000 hours on my channel and in the warm tab it says I have 622. I’ve reached the new goal of over 500 subs and over 3000 hours of watch time so I should be able to apply for partial monetization and of course youtube is holding a creator back.

4 months later and that Earn tab page looks entirely different and you can't see the last update of public watch hours. There is definitely a discrepancy between watch hours and what they consider public watch hours.

At around 2:33 it says hours earned from live streams are not counted towards watch hours… is this still the case ?? I have recently read that allegedly they do…. Anyone know ?

Hi, thanks for the video, but my watch hours in monetization tab are showing as 2, when they actually should be 138. This has not updated in months. Is this a problem or will it update eventually? Thanks

On the video what is the time not generated by non-monetized content mean? So the analytic hour are over 4k but under “earn” its like 400 which one is correct? Please help
