BREAKING JAFFA IN ~ How we train a young pony

As I say about a million times, this is not a 'how to' video as there isn't only one way to break a horse in. Every horse is an individual and therefore should receive different training accordingly. By all means get a discussion going and ask questions in the comments guys. However, any 'unhelpful' comments will be deleted, your girl hasn't got time for hate 😘

Enjoy my lovelies!

Love his extended trot rather than canter! It’s like he doesn’t know canter is a thing! So cute x

It’s so bittersweet watching your videos. After a couple of almost fatal accidents ( horse rolling on top of me) I lost my nerve. I love the way horses smell, the feel of them moving under you but I think my horse riding days are over. Top marks for helmets though. Saved my life twice. Jaffa looks so good ( we had a cat called Jaffa)

I love how your neighbour's horses always seem to be in the background observing the antics!

Fun drinking game: take a shot every time you hear "good boy"

If it wasn't so hard and so expensive to buy nice Welsh Cobs in Australia, a Jaffa would be part of my life.

Jaffa is so adorable! I do like his movements on the lunge. He's going to be a wonderful boy!

After 15 or so years of starting youngsters, no matter if they came into the world with me there or not, I always, always, go back to ground work first. Long lining, lunging, bagging them out, putting stuffed pillow cases over their withers attached to the rings for a 5 point breast plate. These bounce and touch the sides of the horse where the legs would be, and all done on the ground. So many people don't realize how much you can teach your horse without ever being in the saddle. Love how you and Becky got Jaffa to be to the point of being ridden. Slow and steady will always get the best results. Best Regards to you both. Please continue to be safe as the world slowly starts to open up again. From Ontario, Canada, Jenn.

Jaffa, so laid back! Very easy to back, and such a willing attitude. Isn't it vital that they understand the question, and you were very good at explaining. 😊

Jaffa is amazing, thankyou for posting an update on him! When I heard your nickname 'Jaffa Cakes', i actually discovered they were a thing and went to my supermarket in Aus and bought some from the UK section <3

Interesting and fun to see what goes into training and desensitizing horses. Including the bantering, which is always so entertaining. "Run, Becky, run!" LOLOL. It's great to see people who love horses managing to enjoy what is really a serious business and doing such a great job while not putting pressure on the horses and making it stressful for them. And Jaffa trying so hard to do what you want ... as soon as he figures out what that is. Thanks for all the wonderful vlogs. Keep it up and try to convince Becky to grace us with her presence more often.

For my hobby/job I paint, and I enjoy having your videos on my watch later playlist and I listen and watch, you keep me company basically. But boy what a boy you have! He is such a joy to watch, he literally has "joie de vivre" he has spice, class and a overall fun little man. I enjoy watching him immensely. I had to literally stop working to watch and I sat with a silly smile just watching him glide. Who ever has this little guy is going to be so lucky. I hope he finds a fantastic home when he is ready. He is very special. You are obviously very good at helping young horses to become confident comfortable horses that anyone could enjoy. There needs to be more trainers like you. Harsh handling is not necessary and it often does more damage than good. Sorry for the long post but I am so happy with this video. Well done guys. I hope to watch every horse you start like this. *GO TEAM ELPHICK* Thank you so much for this video, enjoyed it tremendously (bet you can't tell can you, lol) ^_^

I adore Jaffa 😍 I broke my mare in a few years ago now and she’s was my first youngster! I’d sat on her with a more experienced girl but half a year later I had a friend hold her and just popped on 🤣 quiet as anything! She’s a spicy one now she’s fitter haha! He’s such a good boy and I just love him! So excited to see more of him 😍😍

Such a nice pony. What a great buy! On another note, love the relationship you have with your mum. She’s so sweet.

After seeing a horrendous "breaking in video" barely not titled "flooding a gypsy until she shuts down" this is like some herbal ointment to soothe the anger! I love how you train your ponies, can't wait to see more 😁
