Government officials and policymakers came together to address urgent issues related to infrastructure development and energy security, marking the second day of the 2024 Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Discussions at the Hilton Hotel in Pasay City on July 24, 2024.

Among the focal points was the Metro Manila Subway Project which aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve public transportation efficiency in the capital.

Moreover, the Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas (SCMB) Railway Corridor was highlighted as a crucial component in enhancing the country's transport connectivity and logistics capabilities.

In aviation, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project is set to modernize the airport, with a projected capacity to handle up to 62 million passengers annually, significantly boosting the airport's efficiency and capacity.

Furthermore, the energization of the Mindanao-Visayas interconnection was emphasized as a major step towards creating a unified national grid, which is expected to stabilize the country's electricity supply and enhance energy security.

The Session also addressed the cost of electricity with discussions on the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001 (Republic Act No. 9136) and initiatives such as the Lifeline Rate program and Anti-Bill Shock measures, all aimed at making electricity more affordable and transparent for consumers.

Finally, the National Cybersecurity Plan was a key topic, underscoring the need for robust measures to protect the country's digital infrastructure from cyber threats.
