My brother committed suicide after he left St Meinrad Seminary in Indiana-a hot bed at the time for this kind of disgusting abuse. He was a very otherworldly young man who was preyed upon. He saw his vocation in a dream as a young boy-around 8 yrs old. More than 40 years later-it is still devastating for me and many days hard to function. Please pray for the poor victims (numbered more than will ever come to light, especially the suicides). My brother’s name was/is Michael.

I was at a Mass at my local parish said by Bishop John Dolan, after which he stood in front of the altar, took out his cell phone, and took a selfie. I knew at that moment that he was sketchy, to say the least.

My wife and I visited Ireland last fall, and I was surprised to hear locals say (more than once) that the Catholic Church had committed horrible crimes in the past and no we didn't mention religion in any way when we started talking to someone. I had to wonder what had happened to turn people away from the Church and for some away from our Lord? Now i understand. Thank you and bless you for this video.

None of these incidents will stop until people go directly to the police when these things happen. I can't imagine having a priest do something nefarious to me and NOT immediately going to the police. Unless they sit in prison, the bishops and cardinals will continue to protect them.

I learned of Archbishop Naumann’s replacement being named from a daughter who serves in the Archdiocese of KCKS. I have a son and daughter-in-law, also, serving there. My son and his wife met at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. Abp. Naumann was close to the college, celebrating mass at the Abbey for special events and coming for informal talks with groups of students regularly. I could say much more about his service in KCKS that drew people close to the church. Abp. Naumann requested to stay on for a time past the required resignation letter and my children had hope for that. I doubted it was to be as Abp. Naumann is far from being a “Francis-type.” (While there’s a shortage of good and holy bishops, Abp Naumann is pulled when willing to remain. That only makes sense against the backdrop of today’s attempted remaking of the Catholic Church.)

I was working in the Archdiocese of St. Louis at the time, then, Archbishop (Cardinal) Raymond Burke was assigned to the Vatican. One knew a man such as he would not be his replacement. It was a difficult period so I understand the sadness my children are now feeling in KCKS. (In StL, the archdiocese, overall, has not been the same.) Praying for all in dioceses and Archdioceses undergoing very difficult transitions. May God bestow upon them the strength and graces needed to endure times such as these.
