Unwrapping a Dunlop 65 back in 70’s was a big deal, expensive as a junior golfer, and only did it in big competitions. I still have my hickory putter i used back then, fantastic on short putts but doesn’t cope with the new balls on long putts. During the changeover period, we would swap between balls dependent on conditions, can’t remember why, but there was consternation that the US were imposing their ball on the UK.

Thin a 3 iron with a balata ball for immediate feedback on the difference. ;)

that sprinkler bounce has happened to me. The ball bounced 20' over the green and landed in the middle of a tight clump sprouting branches growing out of an old tree stump, yes it was in a tournament; yes, I had to take an unplayable; and yes, I was pissed.

I played high school and college golf in 70s. Those balls would lose roundness and you had to eyeball it or learn when a good swing had a weird result it was time to replace. I was surprised the numbers were so good. The ball roll back should be interesting to see where they land. Back then 260 was a bomb compared to 300 now. I imagine we just reset expectations and bragging levels and move on.

I just had half a box of chrome softs crack on me. Love that ball but can't afford that to happen. For the price it's a joke

The only problem with today's golf ball is that it is harder to curve the ball

Just a little food for thought on the camera work. I am no expert, but it feels a little dizzy at times with the amount of movement. A fixed point for each shot or point to chat would be nice, rather than wobbly tracking and quickly switching between the two gents.

Enjoyable video nonetheless.
